Glyphosate is an organophosphorus herbicide renowned for its systemic conductive broad-spectrum effectiveness. It primarily inhibits enolacetone shikimate phosphate synthetase in plants, thereby obstructing the conversion of shikimic acid to essential amino acids like phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan. This interference with protein synthesis leads to plant death. It effectively controls a diverse range of plants, including monocots and dicots, annuals and perennials, herbaceous plants and shrubs. Particularly, it severely affects the underground tissues of deep-rooted perennial weeds.
